Yes, Its Bing Crosby and Jane Wyman in a quick-witted, tuneful musical comedy – Objective for You (1952) The songs are pleasant and include the though-provoking Zing a Miniature Zong as well as The Live Oak Tree, I’ll Si Si Ya in Bahia and a Mexican Ballet sequence. In the represent Bing is having concern with his teenage children, played by Robert Arthur and Natalie Wood. Fans of the huge Bing Crosby will certainly appreciate this double bill from the early 1950’s. With the Hollywood studios reeling from the effects of television, the House On UnAmerican Activites Committee, and the war in Korea, “Here Comes The Groom/Just For You” were and are better than average musical fare both then and now. Both films procure Mr. Crosby in comely remark with better than average song material such as “Zing a Microscopic Zong” and the Oscar winning “In the Frigid,Icy,Frigid of the Evening.” Notorious director Frank Capra, who gave us such American classics as “You Can’t Capture It With You” and the holiday approved “It’s A Fantastic Life” elevates “Here Comes The Groom” out of the level of routine studio fare while Elliott Nugent wraps a twenty year career slow the camera with his jewel-like “Objective For You.” In addition to Crosby, both films feature the sparkling Jane Wyman and a number of major stars to include Franchot Tone and Ethel Barrymore along with rising stars Natalie Wood and Anna Maria Alberghetti. Like another Bing Crosby double film offering, “Holiday Inn/Going My Plot”, “Here Comes The Groom/Just For You” serves as a excellent reminder impartial how powerful fun movie musicals were and quiet are.

I concept it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a haunted young boy star-struck by a noted explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. Up is a deeply emotional film, chunky of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Gain another triumph for Pixar.

And the jungle lope to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a spacious emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious ancient man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the used guy is very familiar to Carl — and to rob Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as celebrated as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty musty coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can indulge in Carl’s care for for his lost wife, and his lifeless realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they demonstrate all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing dilapidated together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy approach to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of big dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Gape Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Chilly! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an extinct airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and definite to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is definite to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special gape. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I admire you”) and act the intention dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to net shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of unusual stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable though-provoking shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to squawk potentially injurious baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously enchanting, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can delight in. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!

It’s really helping me tone my saggy “muffin-top” waist location, while giving me the total stretching and strengthening I need. The visual demonstrations are very determined, and the detailed verbal instructions give me all the coaching I need to work on improving my pilates technique. This DVD is pleasurable as it’s so easy to follow and has plenty of variation to preserve me working out for months to arrive! It’s astonishing how these Pilates techniques, that create me feel so estimable by stretching my whole body, can really produce a enormous cardio burn too.

I did this one today and unbiased loved it! Don’t danger that it says it’s for beginners if you’ve been doing Pilates for years. This is a solid Intermediate Pilates workout. It’s approachable for Beginners, but isn’t broken down slowly for explanations like most Beginner Pilates dvds. It flows wonderfully, is chunky of titillating exercises, and is a pleasure to do with Brooke. Objective improbable!

After a string of movies plot in Europe, Woody Allen triumphantly returns to his beloved Fresh York for Whatever Works. Since Allen releases a original film each year, it’s hit-or-miss with him (rightfully so) . This film got less-than-enthusiastic reviews and, as such, I wasn’t expecting powerful from it…But the critics really misrepresented this film, as this is one of Woody’s best comedies.

Larry David (of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame) plays Boris Yellnikoff, a caustic, retired physicist who walks with a limp due to a failed suicide attempt. Now, Boris teaches chess to “zombie-minded imbeciles.” Evan Rachel Wood plays Melodie, a naïve runaway from Mississippi, who stumbles into Boris’ life…Against all odds, the two marry and Melodie’s parents (played wonderfully by Patricia Clarkson and Ed Begley, Jr.) both, separately, score her.

I’m not familiar with Larry David’s previous work, so I don’t know how distinguished of this performance carries over from his hold persona; but David is playing the Woody Allen role here to perfection. David perfectly captures the neurotic, arrogant genius that is Boris and recites Allen’s dialogue as if it comes straight from his fill thoughts. Of course, this is a film filled with immense performances as can be expected from a film by Woody Allen. Begley, Jr. is particularly surprising as Melodie’s father…And while some may not be too impressed by Wood’s performance as Melodie, she’s very convincing and cute.

This is truthfully one of Allen’s best comedies and an all-around tall film. The dialogue here is typical, philosophical, sarcastic Allen…But it doesn’t objective elicit chuckles, but full-on, laugh-out-loud laughter. It’s a very gleaming film that not ONLY ranks as one of Allen’s best comedies, but one of his best films. I don’t study how this film has not received the amount of praise it deserves, because I clearly saw something all the critic’s didn’t. While the past few years have shown a return to perform for Allen, this film stands as a terrific achievement in the Allen catalogue. It’s quite honestly one of the best films I’ve seen this year and it’s not to be missed.

GRADE: A

I will faulty this film in my top five Woody Allen films which include: Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters, Interiors,

and Sleeper.

Laughed out loud for many of the segments and the script. Perfect cure on a rainy day.

I picked this DVD up today and got it home to accumulate that Disney had altered the novel theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1 to compose the movie “fit” on widescreen TVs. They did this by chopping off the top and bottom of the image. This results in the loss of a profitable deal of character animation (at least the tops of their heads and their feet) . Trust me, I bear the new Minute Screech DVD of this film and I did a side-by-side comparison as soon as I got the novel Platinum Edition home. If you are a purist about new aspect ratios, please avoid this release and petition Disney to open a free disc replacement program. We should at least have the option of watching the recent unaltered film the procedure that it was meant to be seen.

This movie is more than unprejudiced another Disney masterpiece. The Jungle Book is a large legend of friendship and adventure. Although almost every tantalizing feature that was created during Walt Disney’s life is a classic, this one in particular holds a special residence in the heart of many men (and now thanks to video and DVD, boys) who saw it while growing up. There isn’t a boy alive who can watch this movie and not want to be Mowgli. What a life it would be to live in the jungle, with friends like Baloo and Bagheera. It is every young boys dream to be so free.

That is not to say that only boys will savor this movie. As with all Disney films, this one will be enjoyed by all members of the family, young and faded. I saw it growing up, and never forgot my memories of the movie, and the days afterward, singing the songs and dreaming of adventure.

The music in The Jungle Book is some of the best in any Disney movie. “The Bare Necessities” is simply one of the best songs ever. Add in the astounding animation and the characters that advance to life (who wouldn’t have a acquire could swear after seeing this? ), and you have one of the many classic Disney stories.

Starring the voices of Disney regulars Phil Harris and Trustworthy Holloway, as well as Sebastian Cabot (Mr. French, to those of my generation) and many others, this movie is too friendly to not engage.

Get a copy of this DVD before Disney removes it for another generation. It is the best that Disney has to offer.

Season 6 has more twists and turns in it than Season 4 did to us. You HAVE to purchase the DVDs so that you can rewind and uncover the shows unbiased to accept each twist. And this season doesn’t jerk your heart out like seasons 2-3 &4 do. Of course they always set aside it abet. The comedy is peaceful in the expose which is portion of it’s appeal, along with the Gotcha enemy factor!! (Gibbs’s S*** eating grin when the dirtbag is caught and they have no where to go with it!!) Not a fan so far of the accelerate off (NCIS LA) coming from this season but, maybe they can tweek it before they air their hold indicate and not be connected with the unusual. NCIS pilot from JAG didn’t have the spirit that it has on it’s maintain either but, you know you want the copies of it to preserve things in order. Appreciate Gibbs in Heartland which also debuts his oldest son playing a young Gibbs….Sean Harmon. Who also returns in Deliverance for the same character. Has Ralph Waite (Father from the Walton’s) playing Gibbs Father. South By Southwest has Gibbs and DiNozzo on horseback and Gibbs shooting down an enemy helicopter which is priceless for the Gotcha factor. DiNozzo makes a terrible horseman & returns with saddles sores which is the comedy piece from the very beginning. More secrets are revealed this season, they didn’t assume the easy road with Deliverance that most people would have opinion that they were taking. Appreciated that a lot. This season has to be one of my favorites. Have watched the DVR this season til I have nearly customary out the channel selector, yes, will be purchasing the DVDs in Aug 2009, wouldn’t want to fracture up the entire series I acquire (Including the 2 DVD’s from the JAG season 8 pilot episodes), and we will derive the bonus features on the DVD’s which are always racy and informative. Also very contented they are releasing the DVD’s BEFORE the season 7 return so that we can go thru and peep them all again and derive caught up. You will literally inspect more secrets each time you discover it.

This display has been rivetting since its birth during season eight of JAG. Led by the charismatic, unswerving Leroy Jethro Gibbs – the NCIS team has a blend of ecletic characters, from Israeli officer Ziva David, to the whacky Abby Schuto in the forensics Lab – complimented by Tony Dinozzo and McGhee, a computer nerd the cast is rounded off by an eccentric and ‘tale-telling’ Doctor Mallard, nicknamed Ducky. This season had so many twists and turns it was difficult to study how they could have kept the plots together, yet together they were – slick, and lively. Gibbs is one leader that marshalls his troops without apology or comfort – Dinozzo doesn’t call him Boss for nothing! A clip to the benefit of the head if the men find out of line is enough of a slap down. The region that runs throughout the exhibit will beguile and excite. Season seven here we arrive!

Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through worn age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a joyful marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s harm when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers end in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and proceed to Paradise Falls. A archaic balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of smart balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a tubby, intrepid kid trying to collect a scouting badge.

After landing in Paradise Falls, the ancient man and the diminutive boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a broad rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of halt calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his dismal mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by glowing hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole fresh world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, bulky of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Gather another triumph for Pixar.

Someday, Pixar is going to do it — they’re going to construct an emotionally uninspiring, lackluster intriguing movie. But in the meantime, they’re serene putting out delectable intelligent movies like “Up,” which defies the usual kid-movie conventions by starring a crotchety extinct man. It’s a charming, fun diminutive adventure legend with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet runt memoir about loss and treasure.

As a child, the disturbed Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared cherish of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, fade into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a right estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an interested, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the slump. Bad kid was objective trying to rep an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle move to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a substantial emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious worn man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the veteran guy is very familiar to Carl — and to recall Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as favorite as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty worn coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can devour Carl’s like for his lost wife, and his dumb realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they display all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing ancient together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy arrive to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of grand dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Gaze Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Frigid! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an primitive airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and certain to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is definite to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special eye. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I savor you”) and act the blueprint dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to salvage shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of weird stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable enchanting shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to remark potentially nasty baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously exciting, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can luxuriate in. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!
